Skiing

The Tannheimer Tal offers winter sports enthusiasts a varied skiing experience surrounded by the impressive Tyrolean mountains. Six small, family-friendly ski areas with a total of around 55 kilometres of slopes provide plenty of variety and ideal conditions for a perfect day on the snow.

Whether you are making your first turns in the snow, enjoying relaxed descents with the whole family or looking for a sporting challenge as an experienced skier or snowboarder – everyone will find a suitable run here. From gentle beginner slopes and family-friendly pistes to more demanding descents, there is something for every ability level. Thanks to the manageable size of the ski areas and the short distances between them, you can discover a new winter sports experience every day in the Tannheimer Tal.

Six ski areas

  • Tannheim
  • Grän
  • Zöblen

Other winter activities

The Tannheimer Tal is known as a true “cross-country skiing paradise” for good reason and has been awarded the “Tyrolean Cross-Country Ski Trail Quality Seal”. A perfectly groomed network of 140 kilometres of trails for both classic cross-country skiing and skating, set against a magnificent winter landscape, creates the ideal conditions for an unforgettable winter holiday.

Around Tannheim, you will find more than 80 kilometres of perfectly cleared winter hiking trails with magnificent views of the Tannheimer mountains. Even pedestrians can head high into the mountains in winter:

The Neunerköpfle in Tannheim and the Gamskopf in Grän both offer cleared winter hiking trails.

Away from the cleared paths, a special winter experience begins. Snowshoes take you through deeply snow-covered forests and untouched landscapes, allowing you to experience the peaceful side of the Tyrolean mountains in a particularly intensive way.

Gliding through winter on two runners – tobogganing is fun for the whole family. In the Tannheimer Tal, various natural toboggan runs await with exciting descents and cosy mountain huts along the way.

Those who prefer to explore the mountains away from the groomed slopes will find numerous opportunities for ski touring in the Tannheimer Tal. The ascent through the snow-covered mountain landscape is rewarded with magnificent views and an unforgettable descent through deep powder snow.

Whether you prefer relaxed laps or sporty pirouettes, the ice rinks in the region offer another great way to stay active away from the slopes. Ice skating is especially popular with families and is a lovely way to add variety to a winter day.

Wrapped up warmly as you travel through the snow-covered winter landscape – a horse-drawn sleigh ride promises a truly special holiday experience. Enjoy a leisurely journey through the wintry Tannheimer Tal while the horses make their way through the snow.

After an active day in the snow, a cosy stop for refreshments is a must. Numerous mountain huts and inns invite you to warm up and relax with Tyrolean specialities, hot drinks and a welcoming atmosphere.
